The economy wants stability for the effective recovery of the country after the epidemic, and this is also confirmed by renowned experts who want truce to dominate Slovenian politics. On the other hand, the Slovene left has no desire to cooperate, but only wants to overthrow what can be overthrown, regardless of the fact that this would primarily bring harm to the country and consequently to its inhabitants. Well-known protesters want instability of the country during the epidemic and before the presidency of the European Union. A name that also stands out is Ljubo Bavcon, who was a controversial author of the repressive penal code in the former state, as according to his textbook, he is convinced that criminal law is a means of oppression and of a systematic fight against a certain section of the population. Other controversial political figures from the left, who have been involved in attacks on Janez Janša all their lives, are also signed.

Renowned experts and intellectuals have decided to write a letter calling for a social truce and cooperation. In it, they also call on Slovenian politics, the media and opinion leaders to calm their passions, overcome divisions, and join in solving great challenges that lie ahead. “The constant overthrow of the government cannot be a goal that devotes all its resources,” the signatories agreed.

With this letter, they want to call on politicians and society as a whole to act together during the epidemic if we want Slovenia to be able to recover quickly after the crisis and emerge victorious from the crisis. And the country’s recovery and presidency of the EU Council will need to be tackled together, thoughtfully and with a willingness to change. More than 450 individuals, who do not want instability in Slovenia, have already joined the initiative as they want a social truce and cooperation.

However, some or certain individuals on the left are clearly not interested in Slovenia emerging victorious from the crisis, but want to undermine the current government at every step, without choosing the means. And when they cannot succeed with an interpellation, they continue through the story of the constitutional charge. Above all, the most interesting thing is that renowned experts and entrepreneurs who support the Slovenian economy want a truce between the two sides. On the other hand, the well-known protesters in every way want the government to fall and instability to be brought to a country struggling with an epidemic and preparing for the presidency of the European Union.

Among the more prominent signatories of the Social Truce and Cooperation Initiative are: Mark Boris Andrijanič, M.Sc; Matej Avbelj, Ph.D.; Jernej Buzeti, Ph.D.; Matej Beltram, M.Sc.; Bojana Beović, Ph.D.; Eva Aljančič; Blaž Babnik, Ph.D.; Igor Bahovec, Ph.D.; Franjo Bobinac, M.Sc.; Drago Bokal, Ph.D.; Julij Božič; Tina Bregant, Ph.D.; Anže Burger, Ph.D.; Matija Cencelj, Ph.D.; Igor Cesarec, Ph.D.; Božo Černila; Nevenka Črešnar Pergar; Darko Đurić; Tomaž Erzar, Ph.D.; Peter Gregorčič, Ph.D.; Miro Haček, Ph.D.; Andreja Jaklič, Ph.D.; Romana Jordan, Ph.D.; Gorazd Justinek, Ph.D.; Gorazd Kalan, M.Sc.; Jurij Matija Kališnik, Ph.D.; Barbara Kastelec; Janez Janko Kodila; Katarina Kompan Erzar, Ph.D.; Mitja Kos, Ph.D.; Tomaž Lanišek; Miha Lavtar; Marijan Leban, Ph.D.; Jernej Letnar Černič, Ph.D.; Aleš Logar; Jana Lutovac Lah, M.Sc.; Igor Masten, Ph.D.; Robert Masten, Ph.D.; Gregor Maučec, Ph.D.; Aleš Maver, Klemen Medved; Andrej Mertelj; Blaž Mrevlje, Ph.D.; Maja Mikek; Štefko Miklavič, Ph.D.; Jure Mikuž, M.Sc.; Kristijan Musek Lešnik, Ph.D.; Marko Noč, Ph.D.; Dušan Olaj; Marko Pavlišič; Pavle Pensa; Janez Pergar; Ernest Petrič, Ph.D.; Mark Pleško, Ph.D.; Simon Podnar, Ph.D.; Andreja Poljane; Tanja Porčni, M.Sc.; Federico V. Last but not least, there are the initiators who want the government to fall in any way, regardless of the consequences and means. Among them you can also find prime minister never to be Jože P. Damijan. Below we present some of the signatories of the constitutional accusation.

Ljubo Bavcon is the author and signatory of a repressive criminal legislation in communist Yugoslavia

One of the signatories of the Public Call in Support of the Prime Minister’s Constitutional Indictment is Ljubo Bavcon, who even personally selected people for later extrajudicial post-war massacres in the Šentvid camp after the end of the Second World War. The man who signed this constitutional accusation has driven thousands of our compatriots to death – it is a genocide, a crime that does not become obsolete, and is larger in size than the one in Srebrenica. In a normal country, appropriate criminal proceedings would be instituted against Bavcon and he would be held accountable for his actions, but in our country he is still part of the “academic society”.

Bavcon is also the controversial author of the Criminal Code of the former Socialist Republic of Slovenia. As he wrote in his textbook, “criminal law is first and foremost a means of safeguarding the existing social order… In this sense, criminal law is a means of ‘suppressing and systematically fighting a certain part of the population’ (Lenin I, pp. 256-257), that is, of fighting a class which, because of its different views, resists the integrity of the existing social order or its constituent in part”.

Jaša Jenull is a persistent Friday protester and initiator of “Death to Janšism”

Jaša Jenull and his associates were involved in Friday’s illegal protests in Ljubljana, where they threatened with the words “Death to Janšism!”. In the last verdict, the prosecution determined that Jaša Jenull and his associates did not intentionally harm or threaten the Prime Minister. They were incriminated with showing threats of the execution of Prime Minister Janez Janša and his associates. Among other things, they stoned, burned and kicked the image of the Prime Minister, and on the other hand, they also “burned” some ministers. Like-minded vandals with posters even harassed MPs at their homes.

Insulting city councilor of Ljubljana, Janez Stariha, who called an MP “a bitch who should heel”

Let’s remember. MP Alenka Jeraj wrote on Twitter: “What is the problem of communication? One does not like Kacin, the other Hojs. What is important and everyone is talking about are: masks, hand disinfection, and a distance of 1.5 m. You even have it drawn. What else do you want?” Given that this is a purely culturally written tweet, one wonders how it is possible that Janez Stariha reacted in such a primitive way. Namely, Stariha remarked to Jeraj: “Bitch, quiet, heel!”. Which is not all on his part.

This is far from being the first example of primitivism on the part of Stariha. In the past, he also attacked the wife of Prime Minister, Urška Bačovnik Janša, and the wife of the then US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Susan Pompeo, and called them clerical fascists.

Before the celebration of the national day, Stariha also wrote: “The Home Guard gang is already rehearsing Volksmusic. Even anti-protest fences are already waiting. Their pants are shaking.” When the President of the Republic Borut Pahor wrote on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the first reconciliation ceremony in Kočevski Rog: “Reconciliation is a path that never ends. If it ends, the suffering begins.” Stariha replied: “Push reconciliation into your vagina.” Stariha described the Prime Minister as Nazi-fascist Janez. He also wrote: “The problem of the partisans was that they were not consistent and precise enough in the liquidation of traitors. Today, some would not cackle.”

After all their actions, however, the initiators of the constitutional accusation reproach insulting tweeting, which is not comparable to their level of communication, while they themselves intimidate and insult. Above all, most of their accusations have no basis. The Prime Minister is blamed for requesting the resignation of the President of the Court of Audit, Tomaž Vesel, because he allegedly revealed the illegality and corruption of his government’s dealings in the purchase of protective equipment. Vesel’s resignation from the position of President of the Court of Audit was demanded by the MPs, as they are convinced that his work was not correct. Namely, he performed an additional function at Fifa without the consent of the CPC, earning a large pile of money without consent. Meanwhile, Vesel submitted his report a long time ago and his resignation has nothing to do with it, but he himself quickly removed his first MP, Jorg Kristijan Petrovič, during the preparation of the said report.

They reproach Janša of suspending business with STA, but Urbanija requested this because he did not receive the required documentation that would reveal STA’s business

The Prime Minister is further accused, for example, of ignoring resolutions adopted by the National Assembly and referring to the decision on the financing of the STA. The financing of STA was not suspended by the Prime Minister, but by the director of UKOM, Uroš Urbanija, who wants to check the operations of their director Bojan Veselinovič, as he suspects controversial business practices. The director of STA should have submitted the required documentation to UKOM as a representative of the government, but he did not submit it within a few months. Ukom had not renewed a contract with them, because Urbanija does not want taxpayers’ money to flow into illegal currents.

He is further accused of responding to criticism from artists and civil society by endangering their existence and working conditions, while the self-employed in culture receive a basic income, unlike others, and their basic survival is not endangered, despite all insults to the authorities. Above all, the most unfounded accusation is that he bribes a media owner with state property, that he introduces censorship of media articles that are critical of the authorities, and denies the constitutional right to freedom of expression, while the Slovenian media space is markedly left wing oriented and does not spare with criticism against the Prime Minister, while being censored by no one.

Below we attach all the allegations signed by the initiators.

Would you consider someone who deliberately does not implement resolutions adopted in the National Assembly, such as the resolution on the financing of the STA, to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia?

Would you consider someone to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia who, instead of implementing the laws, would change them so that they would be at will of him and his party, as is the case with the appointment of state and European prosecutors?

Would you consider someone to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia who publicly attacks the media, the judiciary and other public services, and at the same time puts people in positions of responsibility in state services with the task of not revealing and prosecuting crimes committed by himself or his followers?

Would you consider someone to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia who demands the head of the President of the Court of Audit, because he reveals the illegality and corruption of his government’s dealings in the procurement of protective equipment?

Would you consider someone to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia who bribes a media owner with state property to introduce censorship of media contributions that are critical of the authorities and denies the constitutional right to freedom of expression?

Would you consider someone to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia who responds to public criticism of the government by intimidating the media and trying to silence them, and responds to personal criticism with sarcasm and insults from members of the National Assembly and others, and by prosecuting them?

Would you consider someone to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia who responds to criticism from artists and civil society by threatening their existence and working conditions?

Would you consider someone to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia who recklessly increases public debt so that our great-grandchildren will also have to repay it?

Would you consider someone to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia who does not acknowledge and regret his mistakes, but attributes them to others?

Would you consider someone to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia who keeps a stiff upper lip when agreeing to fundamental European values in public, yet tramples them in daily political practice?

Would you consider someone to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia who, with his policy, public appearances – like the recent appearance in the European Parliament – and records, tarnishes the reputation of the Republic of Slovenia in the international space to such an extent that for the first time in history Slovenia has become the subject of critical discussions in the bodied of the European Union?

Would you consider someone to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia who while using a pandemic as an excuse is systematically dismantling democratic social institutions, is restricting human freedoms and rights, and is introducing autocratic power?

Would you consider someone to be the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia who does not respect the constitutional provision of the division of power and tries to force both legislative and judicial branches into submission?
