In the government of the Republic of Slovenia, we are programmatically different parties SDS, SMC, NSi, DeSUS. Nevertheless, we found a common denominator of work for the good of Slovenia during the crisis. The state-building attitude of SMC and DeSUS has saved and is saving many lives. # COVID19.” Prime Minister Janez Janša responded to today’s new attempt by the transitional left, which is trying to blacken and overthrow the government and form a new one from the remnants. However, the current government remains solid, as its essence are joint projects and not recruiting, as they want to show in the left opposition.

In the SMC, they are clear that they were not the ones who led to the collapse of Šarec’s government, and that they worked hardest for the common good in every coalition. According to them, someone else was the one who forcibly stopped this common “train” and jumped off it, and now he is again inviting the SMC to board it again. With the collapse of the previous coalition, this party consequently opted for what they considered to be the most constructive and good for the country. According to them, Marjan Šarec, as the then Prime Minister, reacted completely incorrectly to the beginning of the epidemic and at that time even made fun out of the virus.

In this party, they have chosen the hardest and not the easiest path, which they are aware of. DeSUS, however, ensure that they feel like an equal, respected partner of the government in the coalition, and that they have achieved significantly more in this center-right coalition than in the previous center-left coalition, which is crucial for them.

The connective tissue of the coalition is the implementation of the programme

Prime Minister Janez Janša also responded, claiming that the coalition partners are very different parties in terms of programmes. However, they have found a common denominator and are working for Slovenia during the corona crisis. He also emphasised the state-building attitude of SMS and DeSUS in this difficult life-saving situation. The coalition is therefore united by joint projects and not by “brutal recruiting” as the representatives of the transitional left are trying to show this time.

The left-wing opposition is still looking for Šarec’s rifle in the corn

According to STA, today the left-wing opposition parliamentary groups LMŠ, SD, Levica, and SAB presented the content of the request for an extraordinary session of the National Assembly. It is expected this will take place on November 2nd, and on it they are trying to point out that the government is carrying out “brutal recruiting” at a time when it is supposed to focus all its energy on resolving the corona crisis. They explained their position at a press conference in the National Assembly. Niko Prebil, a member of the deserter LMŠ, drew particular attention to the “brutal personnel quarrels”. By its “disputable” conduct, the government allegedly concealed its illegal actions.

The biggest flower was uttered by the leader of the parliamentary group Levice, Matej T. Vatovec, who said that the government had done almost nothing in seven months to curb the spread of the coronavirus. According to him, they did not take care of extra beds in health care and additional employees in education. MP from SD party, Matjaž Nemec, expressed his belief that the government is not dealing with the epidemic and economic inconveniences, but is staffing in the most “brutal” way. He cited rochades at the NPU as an example. According to Maša Kociper from the SAB, the government is using the corona crisis as a “smoke curtain” for the transformation and consequent “orbanisation” of our country, and especially for consolidating the party power of the largest coalition partner.

But what opposition representatives now accuse the current government of is merely a mirror image of them. They described themselves very well. Namely, they cowardly fled their duties right at the beginning of the corona crisis and left their fellow citizens in the lurch. And it was precisely Šarec’s government that staffed a lot until the last breath. While the mainstream media still problematizes some urgent personnel changes during the current government, it was much worse during Šarec’s time. It was them who brutally staffed practically on all their sessions, which often lasted only a few minutes. There were at least 200 personnel changes. Representatives of the transitional opposition made similar allegations yesterday, demanding: “immediate stop of changes in media legislation, cessation of accounting with media house management, editors and journalists – especially RTV Slovenia and STA.

“Suspension of the bill on merging independent supervisory agencies and professional public debate on it, respecting the separation of individual branches of government, ending personnel purges in the police and other state bodies, revoking the eviction of associations and institutions from Metelkova.” At the same time, Janša did not remain indebted to them: “Interesting thinking of the parties SD, LMŠ, Levica, who are planning to overthrow the government at the time of the virus, vote against # PKP5 and are looking for Marjan Šarec’s discarded rifle in the cornfields.” In fact, these are hypocritical demands of the already mentioned opposition parties, which in every possible way try to prevent any changes in the country that would curtail their influence, privileges or bonuses of non-governmental lackeys or hysterical anti-government protesters loyal to them. They do not care about the good of the nation, although they try to create the impression of “people”.
