Wall Street giants to join forces with Soros to block voting reforms

By: V4 Agency

Several large US companies took issue when Georgia passed a law to overhaul its state elections. George Soros and many organisations on the US stock market speculator’s payroll are set to prevent other states from following Georgia’s example.

The US electoral system has received some heavy criticism since last year’s presidential race. Many say presenting a photo ID before being allowed to vote should be made mandatory, and polls show that most Americans support the idea.

An AP-NORC poll released in early April found that 72 per cent of those asked favour some sort of voter identification requirements. 92 per cent of Republicans backed requiring all voters to provide a photo ID in order to vote, while 56 per cent of Democrats said the same.

In March, the House of Representatives passed a bill, which Republicans warn will compromise election integrity and ultimately lead to the federalisation of US elections. The Democrats claim that it will help make it easier for Americans to vote, as it includes same-day voter registration for federal elections, and automatic voter registration through state agencies.

However, Georgia has passed its own, separate voter integrity law. After adopting the comprehensive reform legislation overhauling elections in the state – making photo IDs a pre-requisite to voting – large companies began to threaten to leave the state.

Now Fortune 500 executives, Wall Street companies and the country’s largest law firms are allegedly working with the left-wing Brennan Justice Center to put pressure on state representatives not to adopt similar election reforms.

Brad Carp, the leader of the law firm Paul Weiss, told The New York Times: “We plan to challenge any election law that would impose unnecessary barriers on the right to vote.”

Over a 100 corporate leaders attended an online meeting to discuss whether they should publicly oppose the implementation of electoral reform laws, similar to those adopted by Georgia. The meeting was attended by executives from American Express credit card company, Merck & Co. pharmaceutical company and clothing company Levi Strauss & Co, among others.

Brrennan Justice Center targets the lawmakers of Georgia, Texas, New Hampshire, Florida, Michigan and Arizona, saying that those lawmakers continue to introduce “voter suppressive bills.”

The Brennan Justice Center has several ties to George Soros’ Open Society Foundations (OSF).

According to OSF’s website, the center received 1.1 million dollars in 2019 alone, but it also received support from the Tides Foundation, which also happens to be on Soros’s payroll.

Moreover, John F. Kowal, the organisation’s vice president of programs, has previously worked for the Open Society Foundations.
