Russian Orthodox Metropolitan outraged by Biden’s words

By: V4 Agency

In a recent television show, Russian Metropolitan Hilarion recalled Joe Biden’s comments during the campaign, suggesting that eight-year-old children can decide if they are transgender, and are able to make a decision regarding their gender change. People who propagate such ideas should “be locked up”, the bishop said.

Metropolitan Hilarion, the bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, has sharply criticised a statement made by Joe Biden during the election campaign. Speaking to ABC News, the US President-elect said there should be zero discrimination against the idea that an eight-year-old child decides “I wanna be trandgender”.

„I consider these statements to be blasphemous. I believe people who propagate such ideas should be locked up because, in my opinion, mutilating an 8-year-old or even a 16-year-old child is a sin”,  Metropolitan Hilarion told the Church and Peace TV programme on Russia 24 (Россия 24) earlier this week.

The bishop thinks that children must grow up to be able to make such decisions, because gender change is a terminal, irreversible procedure.

„In order to clearly see what the term gender change refers to, (…) let’s read how a gender change procedure is conducted”, a report by the Russian Interfax news agency quotes Metropolitan Hilarion as saying. „One is sick to the back teeth just reading about this. For grown-ups, it’s completely obvious that gender reassignment is but the mutilation of a person”, the bishop added.

He was of the opinion that “subjecting children to such procedures is a crime”, which should have criminal consequences.
