President Biden says there’s “nothing we can do” about pandemic trajectory

by A.P.

President Biden raised eyebrows Friday by declaring that, “there’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months.” The comment came as Biden pushed Congress to enact new stimulus relief measures.

The president’s remark seemed to strike a completely different tone than Biden’s campaign rhetoric, which routinely portrayed him as having a far more detailed and robust strategy for countering the virus than President Trump.

Biden’s suggestion that the pandemic’s trajectory would be unaffected by our mitigation efforts also appeared at odds with the months-long counsel of medical and scientific experts, a reality that wasn’t lost on former Michigan Representative Justin Amash.

As the president pushed for Congress to pass his $1.9 trillion coronavirus spending plan, he predicted that the country’s death toll could soon “reach well over 600,000.”
