PM Orban: We will help and leave no one by the wayside

By: J.S., STA

The next two weeks will be difficult because several shops will have to close and services will also be suspended. “We will help and we will leave no one by the wayside,” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in his video shared on social media, detailing the government’s assistance to businesses.

PM Viktor Orban said those affected by the closures of the next two weeks would find themselves in a difficult situation.

Therefore, the government is helping out businesses with the following measures:

  • a 50% wage subsidy for those working in the currently suspended services sector (i.e. hairdressers, beauticians, shop assistants)
  • employers’ tax contributions will be waived for the entire month of March
  • those renting and operating services on state or municipal properties wil be exempt from paying rent for the month of March,
  • those paying flat-rate corporate taxes (in the so-called KATA and KIVA schemes) will be exempt from payment in March,

the prime minister said.
