Collegium Intermarium is the first university to be registered in Poland after the major reform of the higher education system. Your task is to build a platform for cooperation between academics from the countries of the Intermarium region. Multilingual courses will start in October.
The flagship subject at the university is law. In addition, an English-language LL.M. course on human rights was launched, the first of its kind in Central Europe. Modeled on Anglo-Saxon universities, the university is planning a broad scholarship program that will exempt outstanding students from all types of tuition fees.
The Collegium Intermarium was opened by the Minister of Education, Science and Higher Education Przemysław Czarnek during the inauguration conference on May 28th. Panelists at the event included leading politicians from our region, including former Czech President and Prime Minister Vaclav Klaus, Polish Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński and Hungarian Justice Minister Judit Varga. The conference was also attended by eminent intellectuals from around the world, such as Rod Dreher – the author of The Benedict Option and advisor to John Paul II, Princess Ingrid Detter de Frankopan, Lady Caroline Cox, who sits in the British House of Lords, the Polish sociologist Andrzej Zybertowicz and the French philosopher Chantal Delsol.
The university lecturers also include András Lánczi – the rector of the Matthias Corvinus University in Budapest, the French legal theorist Gregor Puppinck and the Croatian philosopher and parliamentarian Stephen Bartulica. Classes are also given by judges from the Polish Supreme Administrative Court and the Ordinary Courts, as well as experienced legal practitioners.
The Collegium Intermarium was created in response to the worsening crisis in academic life. It refers to the classic notion of the university as a space for free debate and the courageous search for the truth. Every student learns in the tutoring system under the eyes of an experienced mentor – a researcher from Poland or abroad. We bring with us the best study and research organization practices that have been used in the United States, for example, for many years, “said Tymoteusz Zych, Rector of the Collegium Intermarium.
The new university will draw on the experience of expert organizations and think tanks, including the Ordo Iuris Institute, whose experts are part of the teaching and research staff. In addition to training, she has the task of creating a platform for international debates and courageous research on the most important social, legal and economic challenges in our region.
In addition, in the first year of its existence, the university is introducing a specialized postgraduate course aimed at experienced lawyers and dealing with topics such as new techniques for gathering evidence, contract negotiations and public procurement. The university also offers a public speaking course aimed at participants in public life.
