Referendum proves opinion polls wrong – again

Judging by the referendum results, the opinion polling agencies completely botched their prediction of the outcome.

At the beginning of this week, the website 24ur published the results of a Ninamedia poll on the referendum. Respondents were asked about their participation in the vote on the law on assisted voluntary dying. 61.7 percent said they would take part. 54.3 percent expressed support for the law, while 30.6 percent opposed its adoption.

Ten days before the vote, Mediana also conducted a poll. According to that survey, support for the law was indeed high – nearly 60 percent of respondents were said to back it, while fewer than thirty percent opposed.

Mediana, in particular, thus proved to be far from reality. But what matters, of course, is the money it receives from Golob’s government, taxpayer money, naturally.
