The work of the current government two months after the election is supported by 51.4 percent of respondents, which is almost two percentage points less than a month ago, according to a July poll conducted by Mediana for POP TV. If the elections were held today, the Gibanje Svoboda party would have collected 27.8 percent of the votes, which shows that the merger with LMŠ and SAB did not bring it additional support, reported STA.

While Golob’s ministerial team is supported by 51.4 percent of respondents, 33.5 percent of respondents are critical of its moves, and the remaining 15.1 percent were undecided.

Support for the Gibanje Svoboda has slightly decreased compared to a month ago, while SDS is in second place with the support of 18.8 percent of respondents, almost as much as a month ago. The other three parliamentary parties gained slightly, so that Nova Slovenija would receive 7.5 percent, SD 7.1 percent, and Levica 4.7 percent.

Among the non-parliamentary parties, the Pirates party took the leading position with 2.5 percent, Naša Prihodnost, Dobra Država, and Resnica parties would receive 2.1 percent each. All the other minor non-parliamentary options together register only slightly more than four percent support, while the share of undecided is increasing. 14.5 percent of respondents do not know which party they would support, 5.8 percent would not choose any, and 2.5 percent of respondents did not want to answer, the survey showed.

Among the politicians, the highest average political rating this time went to Health Minister Danijel Bešič Loredan, who was rated slightly better by voters than Prime Minister Robert Golob and President Borut Pahor. After the announcement of his presidential candidacy, SDS MP Anže Logar achieved the highest jump on the list, followed by the President of the National Assembly Urška Klakočar Zupančič and the Minister of the Interior Tatjana Bobnar.

In the trio of prominent NSi persons, which has not yet found a party candidate for the presidential elections, MP Jernej Vrtovec enjoys the most public support, ahead of MEP Ljudmila Novak and party champion Matej Tonin. Just below half of the ranking is the first lady of SD Tanja Fajon. Her coalition partner and coordinator of the Levica party Luka Mesec is seventeenth, and the president of the strongest opposition party SDS Janez Janša is nineteenth, the survey also showed.

The survey was conducted for POP TV between July 18th and 21st on a representative sample of 728 residents by the Mediana Market and Media Research Institute.

Although we have to take such polls with a grain of salt, at least one thing is certainly clear: Golob’s dancing “fairy tale” has already brought about the first sobriety among people.
