The National Investigation Office (NPU) is conducting house searches at Energetika Ljubljana due to deals from 2019, when the company was run by long-time director Andrej Ribič, a close ally of Prime Minister Robert Golob, who belongs to his inner circle of the electro oligarchy. One person was detained, a Serbian businessman connected to the Janković family. Acting Director General of the Police Boštjan Lindav ordered supervision of the work of the National Investigation Office in the areas of detecting and investigating crime and organisational matters.

Investigators of the National Investigation Office are currently conducting seven house searches in private and business premises in Ljubljana on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of abuse of position or trust in economic activity, of which five persons are suspected, two for committing a criminal offense and three for aiding and abetting. One suspect was detained by investigators.

The suspects abused their position during economic activity in connection with a public procurement based on which a contract in the amount of 118 million euros was concluded between a Slovenian public company and a company from abroad. They gained a large amount of illegal property in the amount of 3.5 million euros, which had already been partially paid out, in the amount of at least 650 thousand euros.

35 investigators from the NPU are involved in conducting house searches. From 2020 onwards, pre-trial proceedings have been directed by the Specialised State Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Slovenia. The criminal offense of abuse of position or trust in economic activity is punishable by one to eight years in prison.

A person also connected with the Janković family

According to the information from the Siol NPU portal, a house search is being carried out at Energetika Ljubljana. According to our sources, the detained person is a Serbian businessman Petar Komljenović. The reason for the investigation is allegedly irregularities related to the energy business in the construction of a new gas and steam unit in the Ljubljana heating plant. The deal was won in 2019 by the Greek company Mytilineos Holdings, for which, according to Siol, Komljenović is lobbying. He is also strongly connected to the Janković family, as he has played a key role in a defence in the tax proceedings against Jure Janković.
