Yesterday press conference on the current situation regarding COVID-19 was held by the head of the advisory group at the Ministry of Health, Mateja Logar, and the Director of the Ljubljana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Marjana Majerič.

According to the current data, a total of 1,329 PCR tests and 8,463 rapid antigen tests were conducted yesterday. The PCR tests confirmed 57 new infections, which amounts to a positivity rate of 4.3%. According to data published today, the seven-day average of confirmed cases is 242.

A total of 203 patients are currently hospitalised due to COVID-19, of whom 51 require intensive care; two COVID-19 patients died yesterday.

This morning’s data show that 718,078 people have received their first dose of a vaccine and 478,027 have been fully vaccinated.

“The epidemic is abating, but we are not yet where we would like to be,” explained Mateja Logar. Compared to other EU Member States, the epidemiological situation in Slovenia is significantly worse, which is why we need to remain cautious and follow the current measures.

She also presented the system established in neighbouring Austria, including the European criteria for individual phases. The green phase allows for a 14-day incidence of 25 confirmed cases per 100,000 inhabitants and a test positivity rate of less than 4%.

“If everyone follows the measures, we will be able to enjoy a relatively normal summer without major restrictions,” concluded the head of the advisory group at the Ministry of Health.

Director of the Ljubljana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Marjana Majerič, explained that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia has been warning the Government about the importance of vaccination in the business sector from the start. They advocate 100% vaccination coverage of the active working population, which would also mean savings for the treasury. It is in the interest of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia to reach collective immunity as soon as possible.
