A video session of the European Council took place today. Regarding the letter from Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša to European leaders, the German Chancellor said that she understood it as a call to work to find a compromise solution.
Today’s video session of the European Council, which was also attended by Prime Minister Janez Janša, focused on the joint fight against the Chinese virus, mutual recognition of tests, national vaccination strategies and the prevention of the third wave of COVID-19 infections.
The debate on the budget and the conditioning of payments with the rule of law was very short. After the video session, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the Slovenian Prime Minister had called for work to reach a compromise, which is also in the interest of the German presidency of the EU Council.
Janez Janša wrote on the social network Twitter: »The talks in the European Council are much more real, open and with significantly less ‘political correctness’ – hypocrisy, than is shown and distorted in the one-sided media.« According to him, they are looking for a compromise because there is no other way out.
