To obtain a free ticket, beneficiaries must submit an application.

According to the decision of the government of Janez Janša, pensioners, holders of the European Disability Card, war veterans and all those who are over 65 years of age and not employed or self-employed or managers in companies, from July 1st onwards have the option of free intercity passenger transport in Slovenia. This means that they can ride for free on all intercity buses and trains. However, free rides do not apply to city buses, as this is the responsibility of individual municipalities. In order to obtain a free ticket, beneficiaries must submit an application, for which a special form is prescribed, which can be submitted at single ticket points of sale or sent to the Ministry of Infrastructure. An application is also available at these points of sale or on the Ministry’s website. Beneficiaries may also send the application by regular mail or e-mail.

Carriers will then receive and process applications on a regular basis, and tickets will be available for collection by beneficiaries at the shortest possible time at the point of sale. The cost of making a ticket for the beneficiary is 3 euros. The ticket is valid for 1 year from the beginning of the month in which it was issued.
