Slovenia has recorded 13 new coronavirus cases from 1,271 tests performed yesterday, the lowest daily tally since 30 June, follows from data released by the government on Thursday.

However, the number of hospitalised Covid-19 patients has risen by one to 15 even though one patient was discharged yesterday.

The latest figures bring the total of coronavirus cases so far confirmed to 1,776 out of 111,106 tests conducted for Sars-CoV-2.

Health Minister Tomaž Gantar told TV Slovenija last night that Slovenia’s tally of infections doubles in 6.5 to 7 days, which was still not cause for concern.

He said the epidemic was expected to peak by the end of the month after which the curve should turn downwards. If this is so, no new restrictions will be needed, he said, after the government imposed several measures to contain the outbreak over the past two weeks.
