At the joint session of the Executive Committee and the Party Council of Marko Lotrič’s FOKUS party, held digitally, members unanimously approved the draft coalition agreement for the 2026–2030 term of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the party’s entry into the emerging centre‑right coalition.
“This is about uniting around Slovenia’s key development priorities and agreeing on policies that will promote greater economic competitiveness, a more efficient and less bureaucratic state, more balanced regional development, and a higher quality of life. The coalition agreement also incorporates concrete development proposals from Marko Lotrič’s FOKUS party, especially in the areas of the economy, EU funds, local self‑government, debureaucratisation and digitalisation, as well as creating a supportive environment for entrepreneurship and innovation. Members of the party bodies particularly welcomed the inclusion of the project to establish provinces, which will enable the development of all Slovenian regions,” said party president Marko Lotrič after the session.
The Main Committee of the Slovenian People’s Party (SLS) also unanimously approved the coalition agreement at today’s session, following prior discussions by the party leadership and the SLS Executive Committee.
“At SLS, we believe the coalition agreement provides a solid foundation for achieving the country’s key development goals and the commitments we made to voters. The party enters this new period responsibly and ready to cooperate, convinced that our members can significantly contribute to fulfilling these objectives,” they stated.
SLS president Dr Tina Bregant emphasised that the party remains true to its values and to the people who want a developmental, stable, and inclusive Slovenia. She explained that the coalition agreement includes several concrete SLS proposals in agriculture, healthcare, local self‑government, decentralisation, demography, and long‑term care.
“These are development‑oriented policies. Work must pay off, while maintaining social policy. We support craftsmen and farmers. Food is of strategic importance, which is why agriculture is a key part of the coalition agreement. Other important areas remain healthcare, regional development, the economy, social affairs, demography, and the Slovenian language. We believe we will be able to fulfil the commitments we made to voters and that in four years we will be able to say that, also thanks to us, Slovenians live better,” said Bregant.
The president of the SLS Main Committee, Velislav Žvipelj, highlighted that the party’s support for the coalition agreement reflects maturity and responsibility. “Slovenia deserves unity, stability, and greater attention to balanced regional development. After substantive debate, we endorsed the coalition agreement and look forward to its implementation. We compare its implementation to climbing Triglav. We know that in changing weather conditions it will sometimes be difficult, that sweat will be shed, and that we will have to grit our teeth. But we also look forward to the beautiful views and long periods of good weather. We need joint effort, and we thank in advance all who will help us and recommend ourselves to them.”
SLS MP Srečko Ocvirk, elected on the joint NSi–SLS–FOKUS list, stressed that the coordination of the coalition agreement was demanding but constructive. “We share many common values with all the parties, which made the negotiations constructive and produced solutions based on responsibility, security, and efficiency. This coalition agreement is aligned on key development areas, and the Slovenian People’s Party supports this direction and is ready to actively participate in its implementation,” Ocvirk said.
