Blaž Brodnjak, the CEO of NLB bank, has been appointed new president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovenia (AmCham Slovenia) for a two-year term in office. He succeeds Sašo Berger.
Brodnjak, who was the only candidate for the post at the chamber’s annual general assembly, said now was the time for the state and businesses, and for various business associations to come together and launch debate on the vision of development.
“I’m calling on everyone to engage in dialogue, to a middle joint way and to mutual respect. Let’s place Slovenia on top, let this be our common goal for a collective victory,” Brodnjak was quoted in a press release from AmCham, in Slovenian.
He emphasized the need to create a common vision and good prospects with young people, and to promote knowledge to keep young talents in Slovenia or to attract them back when they go abroad.
AmCham Slovenia members also appointed Nevenka Črešnar Pergar, director of NP Consulting, Damjan Kralj, CEO of BTC, to join the board of governors as new members.
Reappointed as members were Barbara Domicelj of Microsoft Slovenija, Tomaž Lanišek of the Kranj municipality and Matej Zavrl of Goodyear Dunlop Sava Tires.
The board also includes the AmCham Slovenia president, AmCham CEO, a US Embassy official and the current AmCham top potential winner.
As a special guest the general assembly was addressed by US Ambassador to Slovenia Lynda C. Blanchard, who pledged to work to further boost ties between Slovenia and the US.
“Transatlantic relations are important and me and my team are looking forward to working together with all of you,” the ambassador was quoted, in Slovenian, adding that cooperation needed enhancing based on fairness, transparency and a level playing field.
Setting out plans for the future, AmCham CEO Ajša Vodnik noted the adjustments in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Events and networking remain an important part of ACham Slovenia’s work, but they are now held as combo events, combining virtual and physical environments, she said, adding the key was for the events to remain innovative, informative and to address key issues.
