Peter Szijjarto: Polish border guards protecting the whole of Europe

By: V4 Agency

The Hungarian minister for foreign affairs and trade assured his Polish counterpart, Zbigniew Rau, of Hungary’s solidarity and thanked Polish border guards and police for protecting their country’s border and thus, the external borders of the EU and the Schengen area.

Poland continues to be under the severe pressure of illegal migration, Peter Szijjarto, wrote on social media. The Hungarian foreign minister, who is currently attending the summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States in Istanbul, noted that “our poor Polish friends are now experiencing directly what we have been facing continuously for the past six years now: illegal migrants disrespecting our rules, laws and sovereignty and attempting to cross our country’s borders illegally in large numbers.” He underlined that border violation is a crime, as is aiding and abetting it, to speak nothing of human smuggling.

“I assured my Polish counterpart of Hungary’s full solidarity and thanked him for Polish border guards and police protecting Poland and thereby also defending the external border of the Schengen area and the European Union,” the minister said in his post. He also pointed out that Polish border guards “are protecting not only Poland, but the whole of Europe in these hours and days, just as Hungarian border guards have been doing on the southern border of our country.”

The Hungarian foreign minister said that those politicians in Brussels who have taken a pro-migration stance over the past six years, who have kept the mandatory resettlement quota on the agenda, and have denied funding to countries protecting their borders, should now go to the Polish-Belarusian border and “be deeply ashamed of themselves.”
