Novo mesto Police Department: A smuggler arrested, he was transporting five illegals, Iraqi citizens, in a car

Police officers from the Brežice Police Station stopped a driver of a Škoda Octavia private car with Ljubljana license plates at Obrežje on April 27th at around 7.00 while performing tasks of guarding the state border. During the proceedings, it was established that a 51-year-old Slovenian citizen was transporting five Iraqi citizens who had previously crossed the state border illegally.

The suspect, who intended to transport foreigners inside the country, was taken into custody, was detained, and his car was confiscated. He will be brought before an investigating judge with a criminal complaint for a criminal offense prohibited from crossing the border or territory of the country. Police proceedings with Iraqi citizens are still ongoing.

Attempts to evade border control

During the control of a truck with Bosnian license plates, police officers at Border Police Station Obrežje discovered three Afghan citizens who, hiding among the cargo, tried to avoid the border control and enter Slovenia illegally. Moreover, three citizens of Afghanistan were found in the cargo part of a truck with Serbian license plates, and two more citizens of Afghanistan were found in a truck with Croatian license plates. After the procedure was completed, the foreigners were handed over to the Croatian security authorities

Illegally crossed the state border

Shortly after 17.00, Brežice police officers tracked down and arrested an Iranian citizen who had illegally crossed the state border in the Čatež ob Savi area.
