Maribor Police Department: Police tracked down and arrested 14 illegals

At 7.55 am, police officers from the Gorišnica Police Station, while performing tasks of guarding the state border in the town of Gruškovec in the municipality of Cirkulane, tracked down and arrested 14 foreigners who had illegally crossed the state border.

Four citizens of Bangladesh, four citizens of Pakistan, three citizens of Afghanistan and three citizens of Italy were arrested. Two citizens of Pakistan and three citizens of Afghanistan applied for international protection and were taken to an asylum home. Other citizens of Bangladesh and Pakistan will be returned to the Croatian security authorities following a police procedure.

Three Italian citizens suspected of the criminal offense of illegal crossing of the border or territory of the country have been detained and will be brought before an investigating judge on duty following a police procedure.

At 2.40 pm, the driver of a truck with Turkish registration plates arrived at the Gruškovje border crossing. An inspection of the interior of the vehicle revealed that there were five foreigners inside the cargo area who were trying to evade border control. The proceedings established that they were citizens of Afghanistan. All foreigners were returned to the Croatian security authorities after the procedure was completed.
