The Police leadership still has not published data on illegal migrations by the end of May as of today, June 18th. However, data from the daily reports of the Novo Mesto Police Department show that police handled and apprehended 264 foreigners just this past weekend, with 259 in the Brežice area and 5 in Žuniči (municipality of Črnomelj).
In Žuniči, they apprehended 2 Moroccans, a Syrian, a Palestinian, and an Algerian.
In the Posavje region, they handled nationals from Syria (73), Afghanistan (69), Bangladesh (21), Turkey (17), Pakistan (13), Iraq (11), India (10), Russia (10), Nepal (8), Iran (8), Somalia (3), Mongolia (3), Burundi (3), Egypt (2), Sri Lanka (2), Morocco (2), and one each from China, Palestine, and Azerbaijan.
Police procedures with foreigners who entered Slovenia illegally are not yet concluded, as reported by the Novo Mesto Police Department yesterday.

Locals’ experiences: They walk on the road and ask for cigarettes
Additionally, locals reported on Sunday that illegal migrants are walking on the road between Žuniči and Adlešiči, with about 20 of them stopping cars and asking for cigarettes. This has not yet been noted in police reports but might be later, depending on how many the police can register in a single day.
Police: Citizens’ safety is at risk
The situation in the police force is extremely chaotic. There is a shortage of police officers, and the police union warns that the government is in conflict with its own police and military. The government intentionally violates existing rules and criteria, ignoring the police and military during heightened security conditions with its irresponsible and reprehensible policy. According to the union, this directly contributes to endangering the safety of residents. They state:
“The government consciously and deliberately hinders the development, employment, fair payment, and motivation of police officers and soldiers for their work, all with the aim of pacifying and controlling us.”
Core EU countries invest substantial additional resources in internal security and defence. Despite this fact, the Slovenian government does the exact opposite, blindly following the opinions of officials due to its own incompetence, who vent their frustrations on the internal security and defence systems.
BY DOING THIS, THEY ARE INDICATING THAT THE SAFETY OF AN EU MEMBER STATE AND ITS RESIDENTS IS NOT A PRIORITY FOR THEM – THEIR OWN INTERESTS ARE MORE IMPORTANT!
The government’s thoughtless and humiliating actions are causing increasing distrust of citizens in the rule of law and directly negatively impact individuals’ feelings and perceptions of safety. According to the police union, it is not surprising that we are increasingly witnessing the establishment of so-called village guards and other groups whose purpose is the illegal assumption of police duties. They added:
“It is expected that due to such an attitude, we may soon face uncontrollable migrations, an increase in criminal offenses, and decreasing operability of police and military units, which will have catastrophic consequences for the country’s security and its population.”
