A former local official was arrested in Savona on Tuesday for alleged wrongdoing in issuing migrant permits.
Retired former deputy assistant prefect Andrea Giangrasso was arrested on charges of favouring clandestine immigration.
The probe stems from a previous one on permits issued on the basis of bogus work contracts.
