Vote on Tito’s law on privileges: Logar’s group “played dumb”

By: Moja Dolenjska

“The MP and two deputies of a party that did not receive a single vote in the elections, yet holds three parliamentary seats belonging to others (Eva Irgl, Anže Logar, and Tine Novak), were present for the vote on the annulment of the 1974 law. All three were in the chamber, but did not vote. These are not democrats.”

This is what Zvone Černač, SDS MP, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) after presenting the SDS proposal in the National Assembly yesterday to repeal the 1974 law on extraordinary pension benefits for special merit.

The coalition (Svoboda, SD, and Levica) rejected the repeal of the law on extraordinary pensions. Jožica Derganc, an MP from Novo mesto and a loyal soldier of Golob, also voted against it.

Eva Irgl, Anže Logar, and Tine Novak (the self-proclaimed Democrats) did not register their presence in the chamber. As a result, the voting record shows they did not vote. Now Zvone Černač has revealed that all three were present in the chamber at the time of the vote, but deliberately remained silent. This is not the first time they have acted in alignment with the coalition. Notably, Tine Novak was previously an MP for Gibanje Svoboda.

SDS and NSi voted to repeal the 1974 law, but this was not enough to overturn the so-called Tito’s law. A total of 45 MPs voted against the repeal, and 21 voted in favour. As stated, Logar’s group stayed quiet.
