“It simply came to my notice then. Police officers, let’s stop arresting people who just wanted to clean up after themselves,” said a police officer from Kranj Police Department, Andrej Hrenič in defence of left-wing provocateurs who deliberately violate the law and at the same time provoke the police to ignite political and media persecution. Instead of showing solidarity with underpaid police colleagues, faced with weekly slander, threats and rudeness from privileged protesters, he took the other side and showed his middle finger.

If anything needs to be acknowledged to the Slovenian police, it has been their extreme professional conduct since the beginning of the protests, when the new government was formed. Since then, they have not made a single mistake that would damage its reputation, they have always acted legally and with a huge degree of tolerance. Many are even of the opinion that in certain cases, when there were really blatant cases of violation of the law, they should have acted without mercy. Nevertheless, they still retained a great deal of dignity, that is why they were portrayed as fools, bullies, and provocateurs on the other side.

But as it turns out, the police, among their ranks, has individuals who are ashamed of even extremely professional conduct. Moreover, some believe that the leadership of the police is working against the policies of the police and thus destroying their reputation. “It simply came to my notice then. Police officers, let’s stop arresting people who just wanted to clean up after themselves. Are we idiots? And have we forgotten what we swore? Have we forgotten who we serve? Have we forgotten who pays us? Have we forgotten about humanity? Have we forgot that besides us, others have rights as well!! So what are we doing?” wrote the police officer Andrej Hrenič, an employee of the Operational Communication Center of the Kranj Police Department. Police in this case acted in accordance with the law, while protesters wanted to use the garbage collection to enter the fenced area.

Police always acted extremely professional

In all this time the police did not prosecute demonstrators in unauthorized protests, except in cases when they were crossing the border. The mentioned police officer is obviously ashamed because he had to arrest people who deliberately challenged the police. I am ashamed, really ashamed, when I watch you trample on all that has been won and acknowledged in a democratic society. I’m ashamed to be a cop. On my own behalf, I sincerely apologise to all of you, dear citizens. We lost that little bit of respect in society that we had. Thank you to the police leadership for creating fights with our own people (brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, relatives, neighbours, friends, spies, etc.), he wrote.

The mentioned police officer is supposed to be employed at the Kranj Police Department, so we sent journalistic questions to the mentioned police station about their opinion on the said publication. The police station replied as follows: “We distance ourselves from such personal opinions of individuals, but according to our data, this is a publication several months old. Our assessment is that police officers perform their work legally and professionally, and we also expect employees to have decent and respectful communication both in private and at work.”
