Twenty former MPs are now receiving compensation payments because they cannot immediately return to their previous jobs or find new employment.
Among them, the largest group, eight, are former Svoboda MPs. There are also as many as five party‑switchers who changed political parties. The highest compensation (and for part of the month still a salary) was received by former Svoboda MP Urška Klakočar Zupančič, who has since left the party, but only after the election. Among the recipients are five who switched parties earlier. Also receiving compensation is the former leader of the SD parliamentary group, Jani Prednik, who has been receiving it for some time following his resignation. In terms of numbers, Svoboda is followed by SD with four recipients. Among them, besides Prednik, is also the former Levica parliamentary group leader Matej Tašner Vatovec, who switched to SD before the election but failed to win a seat in parliament. Similarly, Miha Kordiš, elected on the Levica list four years ago, also split from the party and was unsuccessful with his new one in the election. As for party‑switchers, the list also includes former SDS and Svoboda MPs Eva Irgl and Tine Novak, who ran for the Democrats but were not elected, as well as former MP Dejan Kaloh. There are no NSi members on the list of compensation recipients.
Because salaries for new MPs cover only part of the month after the election, Zoran Stevanović did not receive the highest amount this time, he was paid €5,007 gross. At the top is Jelka Godec, the SDS parliamentary group leader, with €6,049, as her salary covers the full month. The full list of payments is as follows:
