For the second year in a row, Hungary is hosting the European version of the most prominent right-wing political event in the USA, known as the Conservative Political Action Conference – or CPAC. The grand showcase of conservative thinkers, statesmen and legislators will take place on the 4th and 5th of May and will feature an online speech by our former Prime Minister Janez Janša and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

The second annual CPAC Hungary, with the slogan: “Together we are strong,” kicked off on Thursday and continued on the 5th of May at the Bálna shopping and cultural centre in Budapest. Featured speakers of the event include the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Hungarian Minister of Justice Judit Varga, former Arizona Governor candidate Kari Lake, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, and former Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, who gave a speech on the second day of the conference – on the 5th of May.

This year marks the second CPAC Hungary conference, a two-day series of events organised by conservatives, which will bring together Prime Minister Viktor Orban and members of the Hungarian government, alongside a number of leading politicians from the international right. According to Miklós Szánthó, Director-General of the Centre of Fundamental Rights, which organises CPAC Hungary, this year’s presentation is even bigger, and the number of speakers is also larger, coming from all over the world. “CPAC Hungary was already a big success last year, and now it is even better known,” the main organiser told InfoRádo.

The two-day programme started on Thursday at 9:00 a.m., with an exclusive video message from Tucker Carlson and Steve Bannon, who was former US President Donald Trump’s chief advisor and chief strategist. Former Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and former Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša then spoke on the 5th of May at 9:30 a.m., on the topic “In God We Trust.”

The official agenda lists panels such as “No Woke Zone” and “Make Kids Not War,” suggesting that the focus will be on opposing the destructive woke ideology and preserving tradition, and the latter topic will also address the issue of demography.

Hungary united in destroying post-communist structures in its society

The slogan of CPAC Hungary 2023 is “Together, we are strong.” According to the Director-General of the Centre of Fundamental Rights, this is a strong message, especially for the international right, as he believes that this unity has already been achieved in Hungary. “The Hungarian right is as united as ever and has also succeeded in its mission to destroy post-communist structures in various social subsystems.” “There is a need for cooperation at the international level because the international right does not yet have enough knowledge about this. Although the fact that we can talk about the international right is in itself a very big step forward compared to ten years ago, we also have to recognise that we really all have the same problems that we face when it comes to cultural, social, national or family issues from the Potomac to the Danube,” said Miklós Szánthó.

CPAC, which dates back to the 1970s, has become the annual rally of the American right. The first European iteration of the conference was hosted last year by the Centre of Fundamental Rights in the Hungarian capital of Budapest. The event, which focused on the values of “God, country, family” and attracted more than 1,500 people, including nearly 200 foreign decision-makers, journalists and influencers, was a huge success: even closer friendships were forged with our allies, and the left-liberal world erupted in hysteria.
