On Twitter, the new Government of the Republic of Slovenia boasted about the congratulations from foreign politicians on the appointment of the government of Robert Golob and thanked everyone. Robert Golob also received congratulations from the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, who wrote that he is looking forward to strengthening the bilateral relations, as well as the interstate socio-economic cooperation. We can only guess what exactly he meant by that – but perhaps some new details will come to light about his cooperation with Golob as part of the investigative work of the Commission of Inquiry of the Kosovo Parliament.
Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, congratulated Robert Golob on his election to the position of Prime Minister. “Our Union is at the heart of your efforts. Together, we will build a strong Europe that will be able to face current and future challenges!” she wrote. The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, also joined her congratulations, who believes that Slovenia will actively participate in the development of the European Union. Some other statesmen also congratulated the new government and its Prime Minister, for example, Manuel Marrero Cruz, the Prime Minister of Cuba; Pedro Sanchez, the Prime Minister of Spain; the Slovakian Prime Minister, Eduard Heger, as well as Mateusz Morawiecki, the Prime Minister of Poland, who also thanked Janez Janša.
Among those who congratulated the new government was also the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, who is currently being investigated by the commission of inquiry of the Kosovo Parliament due to his money transfers to the Gen-I energy company. Namely, an “international financial investigation is currently underway, against the Gen-I energy company and Robert Golob, in Serbia, Montenegro, and Kosovo. An investigative commission has already been set up there,” Žan Mahnič, a Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) MP, recently pointed out in the National Assembly, and we also reported on the case in question on Nova24TV. We can also add that in the past, Kurti was known for the fact that his deputies in parliament disrupted the work process by using a tear gas canister, as reported by the media outlet Dnevnik in 2016.
The name of the current Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, also appeared in an article in the magazine Reporteri, where they revealed all the earnings of the MB Consulting company, which is owned by the Kosovo Ambassador to Croatia, Martin Berishaj. A few days before the elections, an affair broke out in Slovenia, revealing that Berishaj, in the role of the financial mule, took care of the “flow” of money, which he allegedly brought back to Golob from the account of his Montenegrian company, where he received the remittances from the Gen-I company’s branch in Beograd, and Golob is said to have then invested this money in one of the Italian funds, where investors are allowed to remain anonymous.
A few days ago, at a press conference, the Vice-President of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Vlora Çitaku, once again called on the heads of Kosovo institutions to clarify the case of the affair in which the Kosovo Ambassador to Croatia is said to be involved. “More than a month has passed already since the Slovenian media published the news that Berishaj is involved in a suspicious scheme of money laundering and suspicious transactions. Following the immediate amnesty of Ambassador Berishaj, President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – there has been nothing but deafening silence for more than a month now. No statements, no announcements, no comments made regarding this regional scandal of the highest representative of Kosovo in Croatia,” the party’s Vice-President pointed out.
