An independent investigation has been launched into the BBC’s 1995 Panorma interview with journalist Martin Bashir and Princess Diana
Prince William has spoken out to say he ‘welcomes’ a new investigation into the BBC’s interview with his late mother that sent shockwaves around the world.
The Duke of Cambridge called the inquiry ‘a step in the right direction’ and said he hopes that the truth about the infamous Panorama interview between Princess Diana and journalist Martin Bashir would be exposed.
An independent inquiry, led by Lord Dyson will commence immediately and seek to discover how the corporation and journalist Bashir landed the sit down chat.
In a statement released via Kensington Palace, Prince William said: “The independent investigation is a step in the right direction. It should help establish the truth behind the actions that led to the Panorama interview and subsequent decisions taken by those in the BBC at the time.”
