One restaurant in Harrogate, North Yorks, has come under fire after adding some very unusual toppings to the cheesy delicacy, leaving some fans of the north-east staple outraged
A parmo has long been seen as a cheap and cheerful treat designed to be scoffed with a beer or enjoyed the day after a big night out.
But now one restaurant is attempting to rebrand the north-east staple as haute cuisine by offering a very jazzed up version covered with 24-carat gold and caviar.
The indulgent dish is now on sale for £17.95 at Burgers & More, in Harrogate, North Yorks, and includes a portion of chips, a jug of cheese sauce and a pot of garlic mayo.
It also comes with a little pot of salad in a nod to health.
