A house has gone viral on Reddit after its new owners discovered the solid wooden staircase could lift up to reveal a passage leading to a secret room hidden under the property

Perspective homeowners will usually visit a property multiple times and turn to the opinion of experts before finalising the purchase to ensure what they’re paying for is the real deal.

Splashing out on a home only to find problems once the keys have been handed over is a nightmare for any buyer, but one family found their new house actually came with an additional space they didn’t spot until after they moved in.

The house features a solid wooden staircase that looks nothing out of the ordinary until you notice the top stair has a small gap spanning its width.

When they investigated it further, they found it acted as a hinge, with the entire staircase lifting up to reveal a secret room hidden underneath the property.
