In the middle of summer, we could watch on television screens how an invasion (for now still unarmed) of men from Africa into Europe was unfolding. European media do not use the word invasion, even though that is what it is. Everything is done in the style of concealing facts and truth. Any such truth would sweep away the theory that Europeans are to blame for everything bad, for all colonialism and all wars. Migrants swam across and climbed over all obstacles; no one seriously prevented their entry into Ceuta. The only thing missing were signs saying “Refugees welcome” or “Bienvenidos” in Spanish.
Then EU interior ministers gathered and discussed what to do. Ursula von der Leyen again called for European solidarity and promised Spain help. So, the state of Spain needs help against a mass of unarmed people. And this Europe wants to fight Putin!
This is how Europe behaves – the same Europe that constantly encourages Ukraine to wage war, the Europe that continually threatens with the Russian danger, even though Putin has repeatedly stated that he does not intend to attack Europe, and even though we all see how difficult it is for him to conquer Ukrainian territory. European leaders keep repeating that Ukraine could become a member of the EU and NATO, even though that was precisely the reason for the Russian attack. Europeans behave like this as long as the war is far away and as long as we all know it will not reach us.
The Spanish prime minister later explained that most migrants went back to Morocco. Reality contradicts him. Reality is the video footage showing, among other things, a migrant with a long iron rod walking dominantly down the street. Spanish sources claim that the authorities sent 3,000 men to Ceuta. What are these men doing? Where are they? Are they also – in true socialist fashion, as the late Yugoslav president would say – for “peaceful coexistence”?
Europe clearly no longer knows who its enemies are. Or perhaps there have not yet been enough Turkish and Arab attacks on it. Even the Pope spoke out, though he cannot advocate radical solutions.
In the first days of August, migrants in Ceuta raped four girls under the age of 14 in a single day. It was apparently quite brutal, as they needed surgical assistance in the hospital. Where were those 3,000 armed men who were supposed to restore order in Ceuta? Furthermore, Sánchez claims that only thousands of minors remain in Ceuta. Since they are children, they will of course not be sent home.
In Morocco, migrant masses were negotiating a new invasion wave in mid‑August, but fortunately it did not happen, as those 3,000 Spaniards would most likely not have stopped it. We already know one such inglorious European episode: let us remember that Serbs shot 8,000 Bosnian Muslims almost before the eyes of Dutch soldiers.
Europeans behave as if this is something that will pass. Because of our indecision, this will continue and escalate. One invasion will follow another.
The future events in Ceuta are therefore not hard to predict, as this African city quickly became something Europe is becoming – an expression of impotence, foolishness, and incompetence. How many times have we heard stories about Frontex, about the need to protect European borders? Perhaps with carnations and a warm welcome, as Spomenka Hribar once did?
The Spanish authorities will bring those thousands of youths – who already rape and parade with iron rods through Ceuta – across the strait to Algeciras, onto Spanish and European territory. Humanistic principles forbid sending “children” home. These children, however, loot shops and rape minors.
Ceuta is not only a story of the collapse of a Spanish exclave, but also an instructive example showing how Europe is collapsing, how common sense no longer applies, and how we have run out of courage.
