We live in a time when Slovenia, under the rule of the Svoboda party supporters, is sinking deeper and deeper. The ruling socialist coalition, with its arrogance, ignorance, and left-wing madness, is dismantling state systems and subsystems. Slovenian public healthcare has been on the brink of collapse ever since Golob’s government began an open war against doctors, against the so-called “amphibians”.

More and more drastic measures are being implemented, which, as our journalist Vida Kocjan writes in the lead article, will ultimately harm only the patients, who on average pay around 350 euros per month for healthcare but end up without services. This is also mentioned in a public letter by Dr Milan Krek, a doctor and former director of the National Institute for Public Health (NIJZ), who warns that the Prime Minister is still waging a battle with doctors, who have been unsuccessfully striking for the eleventh month. “To this day, the Minister has failed to reach an agreement with the striking doctors, the consequences of the strike are here, the Minister does not see them, but unfortunately, the patients are feeling them, and they cannot pretend that everything is fine and dandy.” Many patients have to pay private practitioners or go abroad to get timely treatment. The reality is that “some patients in Slovenia still cannot get a family doctor”. “The very foundation of primary healthcare is crumbling, as these people, who do not have a chosen doctor, usually enter the system through emergency rooms.” Hospital beds are mostly occupied, and “they cannot accept very serious patients because there are simply no available beds for them”. The healthcare situation is alarming, as many are warning, but the Minister for Health does not seem to care. She persists with her legislative ideas, which she has written with the help of “street activists” like Jenull and Keber. Although they claim to advocate for public healthcare, their socialist mindset is ultimately harming it in the long run. In mockery of all the doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers, left-wing activist and anthropologist Nika Kovač will give a lecture on November 20th at the conference of the Association of Health Institutions of Slovenia, addressing directors and senior healthcare staff.

The situation in education is also becoming increasingly alarming. “We appeal to the authorities that it is high time they clearly and loudly state which measures they will implement and how they will approach them. Our common goal must be that the Slovenian education system, from today onward, does not lose any more employees, while each subsequent day should bring a new motivated and qualified staff member who will have good working conditions and professional support,” emphasised SDS MP Alenka Helbl at a press conference on Monday. Therefore, SDS has submitted a request to convene an urgent session of the National Assembly’s Committee for Education, Science, and Youth. They propose a series of measures to improve the state of education in Slovenia. However, the message from the new Minister of Education Vinko Logaj and the head of the SVIZ union Branimir Štrukelj after their “introductory meeting” was entirely socialist. As the first step in solving the staffing issue, they highlighted the preparation of an analysis that will show the extent of the shortage of teaching staff. This means that for a long time, nothing will be done, and the situation will just be “analysed”.

Even more concerning is the situation in the judiciary. The judiciary remains a tool for settling scores with the “class enemy” and for safeguarding the “gains of the revolution”. This is something SDS leader Janez Janša experiences almost daily, undoubtedly weekly, as he faces trial at the Celje District Court in the Trenta case, based on an indictment that should never have been filed, as it relies on completely fabricated claims. To make matters worse, Janša is also facing another disgraceful court decision. This time in a case related to the infamous politically motivated trial of Patria. In 2018, Janša filed a lawsuit against five individuals who played a key role in this shameful trial, seeking compensation. He demanded justice from former prosecutor Branka Zobec Hrastar and judges Barbara Klajnšek, Milan Štrukelj, Vesna Žalik, and Branko Masleša. However, the judiciary did not rule in his favour. On the contrary, the Maribor Higher Court confirmed a decision by the Kranj District Court ordering Janša to pay the costs of the legal proceedings to the prosecutor and judges in the Patria case, whom he had sued for compensation. Moreover, the amount of “recognized costs” was increased to a total of 30,260 euros. This means that we are witnessing yet another incredible abuse of the judiciary for political purposes. Janša understandably responded by writing: “The vampirized judicial caste in the service of the degenerate left believes it is untouchable and will never be held accountable for its unjust rulings and the destruction of individuals and families.” However, even for those who abuse the judiciary for political purposes, sooner or later a reckoning will come. If nothing else, it will be “God’s judgment”. Of course, a political shift to the right is urgently needed. Only then will a serious judicial reform be possible.
