“Demokracija holds an important and recognisable place in the Slovenian media landscape. It is a magazine with a clear editorial orientation, which it does not hide but openly advocates. Precisely because of this, the reader knows from which value and political standpoint it assesses events. Its special value lies in the fact that it opens topics that other media often overlook, push aside, or deliberately conceal. Demokracija certainly contributes to greater diversity of perspectives and media pluralism.
In the past three decades, many magazines have disappeared – including those backed by large and financially stronger media houses. Yet Demokracija has survived despite changes in reading habits, digitalisation, political and financial pressures, and demanding conditions in the media market. This persistence alone proves that it has a loyal readership, a clear identity, and an important place in the Slovenian public space.”
