In recent days, all major Western countries have halted funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) because it has been revealed that its employees participated in brutal terrorist attacks on Israel, triggering a war.
Funding is also being halted by the European Union. They demand a revision of payments, but, in reality, they have not frozen them because they are not currently being executed. If major countries suspend funding for a longer period, the organisation is practically finished, as the vast majority of funds for aiding Palestinians come from Western countries. In Parliament, when explaining the stance on the events in Gaza, Prime Minister Robert Golob did not even mention the issue. However, Palestinian flags were waving on the balcony above the MPs, typically organised by the government-supporting party Levica led by Asta Vrečko.
UNRWA has already dismissed nine out of a dozen “terrorists” who were clearly involved in terrorist attacks. Those who died in terrorist attacks cannot be dismissed. One employee is alleged to have participated in the kidnapping of a woman, while another was involved in the massacre of 97 people in a kibbutz across the border.
On the proposal of our Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon (SD), the government immediately sent additional funds to UNRWA after last year’s terrorist attacks: 150,000 euros. At that time, I pointed out that this was controversial because it is known that money for helping people in severe distress usually flows towards the arming and infrastructure of Hamas terrorists, who, despite a very poor population, have significant resources for rockets and weapons. I did not even consider that UNRWA employees were directly involved in brutal terrorist attacks at that time.

Why he bought a dilapidated building on Litijska Street just before the new year and answered questions about 13,000 laptops stored in a warehouse at noon, were the topics addressed by Prime Minister Golob when responding to SDS MPs Dejan Kaloh and Tomaž Lisec. It was observed that the Prime Minister is waiting for the decision of the SD party regarding whether to dismiss Minister of Justice Dominika Švarc Pipan (SD). He supported Emilija Stojmenova Duh, the head of the newly established ministry for the purchase of laptops. Premier Golob also explained to Janez Žakelj (NSi) the plans to limit the use of gas and solid fuels in new buildings in compact settlements. Nataša Sukič from the Levica inquired about “the increasingly worrying developments in Gaza, the West Bank, and occupied territories.”
Sukič was interested in how her government would strive for a ceasefire in the UN Security Council and what Golob’s plans were for recognising Palestine as an independent and sovereign state. She did not mention Hamas terrorism or the role of the UN and our financing of terrorism. The Prime Minister completely avoided addressing these dilemmas.
Regarding how ministers in the government hastily approved the reallocation of almost eight million from state reserves for the purchase of a dilapidated building just before the new year, Golob stated:
“And lastly, I have material that the government discussed on this topic. There is no contract in this material, there is no description of the seller, let alone any difference in price or valuations. They simply do not exist because it is not the government’s task to approve documents and projects. However, there is one paper that says the material and project were selected in accordance with the valid methodology. Well, and who prepared this paper, you might be surprised, maybe someone from your party, who prepared this paper, we will clarify who is the one who misled the government that the materials are prepared in accordance with the methodology and principles of good management. Yes.”
