The delegation of the Institute of Dr Jože Pučnik laid a wreath in front of the new Pučnik monument in Brdo pri Kranju. Twenty years have passed since Dr Jože Pučnik left us, who has the most credit for making Slovenia an independent and democratic country.

That is why many call him the father of the Slovenian state or statehood, the founder of the Slovenian state, etc. Dr Pučnik led the Demos coalition during the first post-war democratic elections, which, after the victory, also realised the basic programme goals.

It is to his credit that the Slovenian nation united politically regarding the strategic goals of development during the turning points. At the beginning of 2003, his heart stopped beating, but the unique story he lived remains in our memory: as a dissident in times when it was still deadly, as a determined and courageous politician, capable of quick and most important decisions, reasonable, but also a sensitive person. That is why his memory is a permanent imperative for democratically minded Slovenians.

The delegation of the Institute of Dr Jože Pučnik in the composition of Dr Andreja Valič Zver (president of IJP), Davor Kopše, Branko Grims, and Dr Milan Zver laid a wreath in front of the new Pučnik monument in Brdo pri Kranju.

The anniversary was also marked in the European Parliament in Brussels. Romana Tomc, Franc Bogovič, and Milan Zver laid flowers at Pučnik’s statue in the hall named after him.
