At the session, members of the National Assembly elected Neža Kogovšek Šalamon as the new constitutional judge in a secret ballot. 82 MPs cast their ballots. 53 of them supported the appointment of Kogovšek Šalamon, 28 were against it, and one ballot was invalid. STA reported that the newly elected constitutional judge has already sworn in before the National Assembly. So, did Borut Pahor “drive a nail into Slovenia’s coffin” by appointing Kogovšek? “Activist of the Soros Institute a candidate for the Constitutional Court? God have mercy on Slovenia,” former Prime Minister Janez Janša wrote on Twitter when she was appointed.
Neža Kogovšek Šalamon will replace Marijan Pavčnik at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia, who resigned with a request for early dismissal. We have already written that Kogovšek Šalamon does not have a suitable legal resume, and her past performance is an indication that she will not be able to judge fairly on many issues. Her attitude towards migration and the definition of family is said to be particularly problematic. Some time ago, she said, among other things, that she thought it was extremely positive that there was a majority in the National Assembly and that there was a political will to listen to the LGBT community. To the question of the host of the show, whether the constitutional court should then consider court practices abroad, Kogovšek Šalamon replied that the constitutional court should definitely be inspired by practices from abroad, but that it would probably not go so far as to have a referendum on the law prohibit it. She mentioned that trends from other countries should be considered, e.g., Spain, where same-sex adoptions are allowed.
The aggressive far-left activist from the Peace Institute also worked at the Legal Information Centre of Non-Governmental Organisations – PIC in Ljubljana. It is an organisation that actively and systematically encouraged illegal migration to Slovenia, the activists gave illegal migrants instructions with a detailed description of Slovenian and European legislation and taught them exactly how to act so that the police would not return them to Croatia. Kogovšek Šalamon is known for her lectures on how migrants do not need to be feared, that we must remove prejudices and ensure that migrants integrate into our society as best as possible. For the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia (?!), she lectured at the seminar “Administrative Law, Human Rights and Vulnerable Groups: The Case of LGBT Asylum Seekers”. She is more than obvious a person who is very engaged in the agenda of “importing” new left-wing voters to Slovenia.
Neža Kogovšek Šalamon, who until now worked as the head of the department for identifying discrimination, counselling, and advocacy at the Defender of the Principle of Equality, emphasised in the presentation at the presidential palace that, if elected, she will strive to maintain people’s trust in the legal system and administration in general. She also pointed out that in her work she mainly follows the values of professionalism, conscientiousness, accuracy, and efficiency. “I am consistent, I have the same expectations for everyone, regardless of worldview or regardless of any personal circumstances,” she emphasised. We will see if she will put her words into practice.
