Will the people of Ljubljana really vote for Janković again, who still has Putin’s award on his wall?

By: Sara Kovač /Nova24tv

The Mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Janković, submitted his candidacy for the fifth term yesterday with the signatures of the citizens. He wants as many people from Ljubljana as possible to come to the elections, more than four years ago, and to win in the first round. Everyone persistently predicts his victory, even though the opponents are not yet known, but what does this say about the Ljubljana electorate? The men and women of Ljubljana consciously want a city politician at the head of the city, someone who behaves like a mobster. Which is also known to everyone, but obviously outweighs the mentality “because everyone steals”, but this is not the case, and it is dangerous to choose a candidate in this way.

Zoran Janković has been mayor of Ljubljana for 16 years and will run for a fifth term. He also discussed the support with Prime Minister Robert Golob, he said. The Gibanje Svoboda party will decide on this by the end of the week, the party announced. The question is, will the people of Ljubljana turn a blind eye to dangerous political friendships, to the Stožice affair, to the Pharmacist affair, to the construction of sewerage on an aquifer from which 300,000 Ljubljana residents get their clean drinking water, to changing the purpose of agricultural land to buildable land for his colleagues?

Janković said that he is not afraid of opponents. So far, only Jasmina Jerant has announced her candidacy. The deadline for submitting candidacies ends on October 20th. It is worrying, especially on the part of the Ljubljana electorate, that everyone already credits Janković with victory, and Janković also expects it in the first round and a majority in the city council. “Because this combination of Zoran Janković’s list in the city council, as well as the majority and myself, has brought all these awards that we are getting, and the satisfaction of our men and women from Ljubljana,” he said.

Do the people of Ljubljana support sexual extortion?

Is it really so? Are the people of Ljubljana satisfied that they have at the head a local politician who is burdened by many scandals, which are not only related to money-grabbing, bribery, abuse of position, supporting controversial politicians, but he also demanded sexual favours from a pharmacist who was struggling to survive. Let us remind you that in March of this year, new shocking revelations were reported in the case of the Pharmacist, which heavily burden the Mayor of Ljubljana, Janković. Two documents (official notes) that were created as a result of the criminal investigation of the so-called pharmacist, have become public. The pharmacist revealed that she was forced to provide sexual favours to Janković several times in exchange for survival, which made her feel abused and humiliated.

The people of Ljubljana support that their mayor has Putin’s Order of Friendship on the wall and is friends with a politician who openly supports the war?

In an interview for MCC, he said that although he condemned the war with Ukraine, “I still have Putin’s award on my wall”. Namely, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin awarded Janković with the Order of Friendship years ago in Moscow for his contribution to the strengthening of Slovenian-Russian relations. We remind you that Anja Kopač Mrak was also decorated, but she returned the Russian state decoration as a sign of protest against the war. Janković also supports the Serbian member of the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, who openly supports Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. And, if the Gibanje Svoboda party will officially support Janković for mayor, it will show its true face and directly support Russia, corruption, and the exploitation of women. And so, the circle is closed.

Do the people of Ljubljana support drinking of drinking water into which sewage can flow?

Let’s remember the project of the mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Janković, which threatens the clean drinking water of 300 thousand Ljubljana residents. In the selection of the most non-ecological personality of the year, the non-governmental environmental organisation Alpe Adria Green (AAG) placed the Municipality of Ljubljana (MOL) at the top of the blacklist for 2018 due to the construction of a large-flow sewerage project on the aquifer – the C0 canal project. The aforementioned organisation prepared a rather extensive channel some time ago, in which, among other things, it is written: “The threat of aquifer pollution from the C0 canal is objectively present. Damage to the C0 canal and the leakage of dangerous wastewater into the aquifer would weaken its function of purifying water from the Sava River. Ljubljana could lose this irreplaceable water source and be left without drinking water.”

Do the people of Ljubljana support excessive construction, even of agricultural land for his colleagues?

Not long ago, the news leaked to the public that the musician Magnifico, who is considered a great supporter of Janković, will build his new home on land in Ljubljana, which at the time of purchase was still unbuildable. He will build his new house on a meadow in Koseze, near the Koseze church and across from the neighbourhood Mostec ob Koseškem bajerju. When he bought the said land, the land was unbuildable. Fortunately for him, the city authorities decided years ago to change the purpose of the land. This allows Magnifico to be able to build a new house. On top of that, the value of the land increased.

The people of Ljubljana support affairs like Stožice?

Let’s also remember Jankovič’s “infamous” Stožice project. Years ago, he forced the project of a sports complex along the Ljubljana ring road, which according to the original plans was supposed to be built in 2008. Later, it was opened, unfinished of course, in 2010. The operating permit was issued under unusual and suspicious circumstances, but as the new mayoral elections approached in the fall, Janković had to justify at least partially what he had already promised in the first mayoral elections in 2006. He was ready to go over dead bodies for this project, literally. Unpaid companies collapsed; directors decided to take their own lives because they did not see a way out of the crisis. The work in Stožice is still not finished today. No one has been held responsible yet, although we all know where to look for those responsible.

Whether the people of Ljubljana support all this will be shown in the elections, as well as whether Prime Minister Robert Golob supports all this because it should be clear on Friday whether Janković has the support of the Gibanje Svoboda party. “I will not deny that I see Mayor Janković as the most suitable person to continue another term in this position. I am inclined to have the party support him,” Golob already hinted in August.
