“Candidacy submitted. With 5,000 signatures, and 13 less than 13,000 collected. Thank you! To everyone who helped collect signatures and to everyone who submitted their signature. I feel great reactions on the ground, so I am already looking forward to the start of the campaign,” said Anže Logar upon his official candidacy.
SDS MP Anže Logar submitted his candidacy for president of the republic today. He promises that, with his electoral programme, he will advocate for the creation of a stimulating economic environment, the inclusion of young people, a green transformation, and the issue of security and foreign policy, which, according to him, will require the cooperation of all Slovenian politics.
“Even if we have different worldviews, we certainly have something that connects us, and in this respect, I think that we must combine these positive areas and step confidently into tomorrow, where Slovenia will breathe freely and use all attributes, which it has at its disposal,” emphasised Logar in his statement upon filing his candidacy.
What does Logar promise?
In the past weeks, he and his team have prepared a programme that will be presented on the ground and through electoral confrontations. It consists of four key themes and a fifth that connects all four. First and foremost, during his term of office, if the voters choose him, he will ensure the creation of an economic environment that will enable the development of the economy, innovation and encourage young people to find their opportunity in Slovenia. “Another important area in my mandate will be young people. All activities will be imbued with the inclusion of young people in dialogue and co-creation of our future. The third point is the issue of security and foreign policy. As part of this, I believe that we have quite a few tasks ahead of us. The challenges ahead are difficult, so the cooperation of the entire spectrum of Slovenian society and politics and the awareness that security is of utmost importance at this moment is important,” he wrote on his Facebook page. He mentioned the green transformation as the fourth point. “During the energy crisis and the restructuring of the global economy, it is extremely important to redirect all forces to a green transformation. In the end, I connect all four points in a mantle, which is embodied by the motto of my campaign – Let’s work together #FORthefuture – my key purpose is to connect all that divides us. Even if we have different worldviews, we definitely have something that connects us.”
Logar is a real candidate for the president of the republic
The first person to sign his candidacy, Romana Jordan, a former member of the European Parliament, expressed her belief that Logar is exactly the kind of candidate for president of the republic that Slovenia needs, and that she herself knows him as a “thinking man who is open to diversity, is tolerant, and acts as a link”. “On the left they say that I am an extreme right-winger, in NSi they say that I am on the left, which means that I am the right candidate for the president of the republic, who will be the president of all citizens, all Slovenes,” commented Logar.
