An attack by a left-wing extremist on Italy’s populist leader Matteo Salvini on the streets of Naples was foiled last week.
The attempted attack, which took place on Friday in the streets of Naples, was captured on video and saw an unhinged left-wing extremist try rush Salvini while screaming expletives at the national populist leader, Italy’s daily newspaper Il Giornale reports.
Luckily, thanks to the speed at which Salvini’s bodyguards reacted, the violent leftist was unable to put their hands on the embattled League leader who has gotten used to receiving violent threats from leftists and migrants.
In the days leading up to Salvini’s arrival in Naples, he faced an onslaught of threats and abuse from various individuals and organizations. Just before his arrival, far-left groups graffitied the city’s walls with insults aimed at Salvini.
Unfortunately, left-wing violence directed at members of the national populist League party isn’t a particularly new phenomenon, although it is becoming more frequent.
