Sir Patrick Stewart wants 14-year-olds to have right to vote

The Star Trek actor is calling for a lower voting age for younger teens who ‘often want to make the world better’

Sir Patrick Stewart wants 14-year-olds to go boldly where no 14-year-olds have gone before – polling booths.

The Star Trek actor is calling for a lower voting age so younger teens can have their say in elections. 

“I hear talk that 14-year-olds should have the vote,” he said.

“I would certainly vote for that. They want to have an impact. That’s what young people today have already been having, politically.”

The current voting age in the UK is 18 – except in Scotland, where you can vote in local elections from 16.
