US President-elect Joe Biden has named the members of his senior White House communications team. Several of them come from organisations financed by US stock market speculator George Soros.
In a statement US President-elect Joe Biden has named the members of his senior communications team. It has seven members, all of them women, with several African Americans among them. According to the announcement, Biden tapped Kate Bedingfield as White House communications director, and Jen Psaki as his press secretary. Unlike other positions, the president’s communications team does not need to be approved by the Senate.
Biden’s team members include people with links to George Soros, similar to other important posts.
Biden named Karine Jean-Pierre as his principal deputy press secretary. She worked as a senior advisor to Biden and Kamala Harris’s chief of staff during the Biden-Harris campaign and also held various positions in the Obama administration. Besides those, she was chief public affairs officer for the NGO MoveOn.org.
MoveOn.org enjoys the financial support of Soros’s Open Society Foundations (OSF). According to available data, the organisation received 50,000 dollars in 2018 and 25,000 dollars in 2016 from OSF.
Ms Jean-Pierre previously praised Democratic Party presidential candidates for boycotting the AIPAC (American-Israel Public Affairs Committee), a pro-Israel lobby group. In one of her writings, Jean-Pierre stated that the Democratic candidates had “made the right call”, adding that she believes AIPAC’s policies and values were “not progressive”.
Pili Tobar will serve as deputy White House communications director. Earlier, she was deputy director for America’s Voice, a pro-migration organisation.
America’s Voice is not unknown to George Soros’s foundation, either. OSF’s website shows that the group was awarded 575 thousand dollars in grants in 2018 alone. In addition, Ms Tobar also worked with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who is on friendly terms with Soros’s family.
According to US press reports, Biden is expected to nominate Neera Tanden to lead the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB). OMB is the largest within the Executive Office of the US President. The White House manages and oversees the activities of federal-level organisations through OMB. It is responsible for providing professional advice to senior White House advisors in areas such as federal policies, management, legislation, regulatory procedures, and the budget. Most of OMB’s more than 500 employees are tasked with overseeing whether federal programmes comply with presidential guidelines.
As the president of an organisation called Center for American Progress, Ms Tanden is not unknown to Soros’s network, either. The institute has, among other things, provided advice to Barack Obama. OSF’s website reveals that the organisation was granted 340 thousand dollars in 2018.
