Hungary’s conservative Prime Minister Viktor Orbán recently upset the left-wing mainstream media again with a speech criticising the mixing of Europeans and non-Europeans.
In a speech he gave at a summer university in the Romanian town of Băile Tușnad, with a majority Hungarian population located in Transylvania, Orbán warned that Europeans should not mix with non-Europeans. “We migrate, we work elsewhere and we mix within Europe. But we do not want to become a mixed race or a “multiethnic group”, Orbán said, according to foreign media reports, adding that the West is split in two because half of the West is made up of countries where Europeans mix with non-Europeans; “these countries are no longer nations”.
He also pointed out that these countries want to impose this kind of mixing on Central Europe. “In a spiritual sense, the West has moved into Central Europe”, he said. “We Hungarians are not a mixed race…and we do not want to become a mixed race”, he was decisive about preserving Hungarian ethno-cultural identity.
In his speech, Orbán also expressed the view that the European Union needs a different strategy on the Ukraine-Russia war, noting that Hungary, as a neighbouring country of Ukraine at war, has to argue that peace is the only solution: “Peace is the only solution to save lives and the only cure for war inflation and the economic crisis”.
