Chairwoman of the National Police Chiefs Council, Sarah Thornton, has called for a re-evaluation of priorities within the police force, the BBC reports.
In recent times, much of the police’s resources have been given to tackling what many consider non-offences.
However, under the governments austerity measures, police forces nationwide are feeling overstretched, leading Thornton to state at a police conference “I want us to solve more burglaries and bear down on violence before we make more records of incidents that are not crimes … Treating misogyny as a hate crime is a concern for some well-organised campaigning organisations.”
