Defence Minister Matej Tonin and his Hungarian counterpart Tibor Benko met to discuss possibilities for closer cooperation in protection and disaster relief in defence and security. The pair dedicated a great deal of attention to the Covid-19 epidemic, while international missions and army modernisation were broached too.
Tonin told the STA that he thanked his host for Hungary’s assistance during the first wave of the epidemic when Hungary provided logistic support in the procurement of personal protective equipment. He also said Hungary expressed readiness to help with equipment in case things deteriorate and also with personnel should the situation get critical.
