The trial of Derek Chauvin, a policeman accused of the killing of George Floyd, has entered its second week in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The death of George Floyd caused violent riots of BLM and Antifa groups all across the U.S. major cities last year. The trial is in the first phase when the twelve jurors are being selected. For now, seven of the jurors were selected, and the opening statements are scheduled for the 29th of March. The charge burdens Chauvin with second and third-degree murder and manslaughter. The other police officers that are accused of aiding and abetting, will be trialed in August.

As the trial begins, some of the potential jurors are concerned for their safety, according to the report from the website of a conservative organization Red Elephants. They are afraid, that because of their part in the trial, they could become targets for BLM and extremist Antifa groups.

Juror nr.8 stated that he is afraid for his own safety, and the safety of his family, since the trial will proceed in the shadow of possible new riots and threats. Juror nr.9 was shocked to see protesters in front of the court building, who announced that they will hold demonstrations every day during the trial. And the juror nr.10 expressed concerns that he may become the target of certain organizations, once his name will become public.
