In the video, the man, named Mohammad Ashraf, mocks the radio station and Quran recitations by a number of prominent Qaris of the country and the Islamic world, IQNA reports.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Dar al-Fatwa condemned the move, saying beautiful Quran recitations by eminent Qaris are aired on the Quran Radio to help listeners purify their soul.

The Quran Radio has spared no efforts to promote the Quran and its teachings, the Dar al-Fatwa said.

It added that the radio station has been very successful in creating a strong bond between people and Quran masters.

It went on to call for the comedian to be put on trial for his offensive move.

Ashraf’s move has drawn criticism from many social media users who have called for his trial.
