Madrid became one of the “right-wing” capitals of Europe last night. According to all polls, the conservative Partido Popular under Isabel Diaz Ayuso wins the election with 62–65 of 137 seats in the regional parliament. She will need the regional councils of the anti-immigration party VOX to lead the government of the region. The “Cordon sanitaire” set up by the left parties around the VOX has thus broken.

The nearly 8 million inhabitants of Madrid and its 178 suburbs were called to the elections in order to give the victory to Isabel Diaz Ayuso. The outgoing president, who represents the hardliner wing of the Partido Popular, once again mixed up the election campaign, in which the anti-immigration party VOX was involved, through her discourse.
