Prime minister enjoys huge support

By: V4 Agency

Most voters consider the current head of government to be the most suitable for the prime ministerial post.

Mateusz Morawiecki is the one best suited for Poland s prime ministerial post, wPolityce writes, citing the results of a recent opinion poll. The nationwide survey conducted by telephone on a sample of 1000 Poles found that 27.4 per cent of voters share this view.

Although support for the current head of government has slightly dropped compared to the last survey in March (31.5 per cent), Mr Morawiecki is still far ahead of his main rivals. Warsaw s opposition mayor Rafal Trzaskowski – who ran for the presidency last year but lost to ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party candidate Adrzej Duda – is considered to be a suitable prime ministerial candidate by merely 7.6 per cent of voters. According to the survey, former PM Donald Tusk is supported by 5.6% of respondents, followed by Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz (2.5%) from the Polish People s Party and Szymon Holownia, the head of the Poland 2050 political movement, founded in November 2020. Interestingly, more than half of those surveyed (50.7%) have no opinion on the issue.

The poll also highlights that most of Mateusz Morawiecki s supporters are voters of the United Right party group (54 per cent), but Morawiecki s is also quite popular among voters of the Polish People s Party and the right-wing Kukiz 15 (34 per cent). Most left-leaning respondents favour Rafal Trzaskowski (34%), while supporters of the opposition Civil Platform consider Donald Tusk to be the most suitable prime ministerial candidate (34%), followed by Mr Trzaskowski at 17 per cent.
