Today we are witnessing new contrast between the liberal western democracies, where cultural Marxism is prevailing, and eastern and central European countries, which are trying to some extent to protect their traditions and family values, and are resisting the pressures of the global Left. This contrast was recently seen at the football stadium Wembley when the World championship 2022 qualification match between England and Poland took place.
Lately, the players in the Premier League are kneeling before the match to supposedly show solidarity with the BLM movement. But, unlike their English opponents, the Polish players did not kneel. Instead, they pointed their fingers at the UEFA “respect” label on their jerseys. Polish MP Mariusz Kałużny supported their decision and wrote on his Twitter: “They did not kneel. In this crazy world there remain those who are rational. I’m proud of being a Pole!” At the same time, the Polish sports channel of the public television TVP claimed that the gesture of the players hold much importance, as it showed that they truly respect the rules of fair play.
Legendary former Polish football player and the current head of the Polish football league Zbigniew Boniek also stated that he is opposed to such actions, saying that it is clear “populism”, as many footballers don’t even know why they are kneeling exactly.
The Polish government was also critical of the BLM movement in the past. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said last year that the preservation of the traditional values in the face of the violence of the BLM movement is especially important to such countries as Hungary and Poland. “We must ensure that Central Europe remains an oasis of common sense and peace”, he added.
