PM Orban: We’re facing a difficult period, but Hungary’s healthcare is holding up

As the pandemic will remain on an upward trend in the coming months, we are facing a difficult autumn and perhaps an even more difficult winter, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in a video uploaded from the EU summit in Brussels to his social media.

“We have had long discussions about our experience in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic until late at night” said PM Orban in a video uploaded onto his social media page on the second day of the Brussels EU summit.

Mr Orban said the situation was difficult for the whole of Europe, and even Germany has a higher death toll than Hungary. “The Hungarian healthcare system is still holding its ground quite firmly, we trust our doctors, nurses and epidemiologists, and we also trust our police ensuring border safety”, he added.

“As the pandemic will remain on an upward trend in the coming months, we are facing a difficult autumn and perhaps an even more difficult winter. The ski season is approaching and everyone starts plannig their winter holidays” the prime minister said, adding that Thursday night he learned about the European situation in detail and therefore advises people “not to plan trips abroad during the ski season.”
