PM Orban and Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks over the phone, according to a recent post shared by Hungary’s prime minister.
“Phone call with the President of China. We are restarting diplomacy. Invitation from Beijing: accepted,” Hungarian PM Viktor Orban posted on social media.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, who elaborated on developments in Hungary-China relations in an earlier video post, was also present during the phone call.
In his post, Mr Szijjarto stated that during their discussion PM Orban and President Xi Jinping would primarily touch on the cooperation the two countries established during the coronavirus pandemic.
“During the past few months a very effective cooperation has been established between China and Hungary. We already took delivery of 1,7 million vaccine doses from China, which played a huge role in putting Hungary in the lead in Europe – more precisely into second place – in terms of its vaccination rate,” FM Peter Szijjarto has said.
